Jane is a children’s writer, living in Cornwall and yearning to be a grown-up poet.
Jane Newberry's unique insight into very little children began as a puppeteer at children's parties, where she discovered what makes children laugh. For over 25 years Jane taught Early Years Music to various groups. She wrote and illustrated three song books before moving on to gather the many play-rhymes used in groups over the years. Married to Pat and living in Cornwall, Jane has four children and two grandchildren..Retirement three years ago brought more time for trying new literary genres. Hoyden’s Trove (Wheelsong Books) is Jane’s debut collection and she is widely published in magazines and on the internet. Jane’s rhyme book “Big Green Crocodile” was shortlisted for a CLIPPA award in 2021. Her latest book of play-rhymes Big Red Dragon was published in August 2024, Otter-Barry Books.
