About this Festival
The idea for Music on the Moor arose out of friendships with the many artists, musicians and writers working around Bodmin Moor.
I am a professional violinist and an amateur potter. While I’m privileged to be part of the fantastic Brodsky Quartet, giving concerts all over the world, I also have a special tie with this part of Cornwall. Ten years ago, Simon and I fell in love with an ancient property called Lavethan, just outside Blisland, which we felt could become a perfect setting for concerts, residential courses and other creative events. Lavethan has gradually fulfilled these hopes and inspired us to expand our activities beyond Blisland, and beyond classical music, to create a festival in which different artists can meet and collaborate in unexpected ways.
I’ve always found that music, words and images can inspire each other. Music on the Moor brings internationally renowned musicians together with artists working locally, and there’s also space for people to mingle socially: at the art exhibitions which stay open for the whole week, at the family and outdoor events and at the special meals offered by some of our favourite local eateries.
As the festival has taken shape, all kinds of people have joined the project and helped to bring it to life. We hope you will come to an event that instantly appeals to you, but also consider trying something new and different. To enjoy the whole week with its variety of beautiful venues and great music, why not consider booking a Festival Pass which covers all the key events and which can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you and your families at Music on the Moor 2026, and we’ll welcome any ideas you may have for the future of our festival.
With best wishes,
Krysia Osostowicz
