Staying in Spillville, Iowa in 1893, Dvorak wrote this joyous work in just 12 days, combining elements of Native American and Spiritual music with the folk idioms of his Czech homeland.

Japanese-American composer Karen Tanaka honours Beethoven while commemorating the victims of the Kosovo War of 2014.

Bartok’s final quartet, written on the eve of WW2, expresses the suffering of war and the pain of exile in a searing and lyrical masterpiece.

Exhibition

Paul Jackson is not only a master potter but also a painter. His pots are like canvasses decorated with colourful designs full of movement, often inspired by sea life.

To see a splendid display of these pots in Lavethan Barn, come to one or more of the musical events happening there on 15th, 17th, 18th and 19th July.
