Artist
Laura is a multi-disciplinary artist, performer & writer based in North Cornwall.
She is best known for her large scale lanterns and processive sculptural works made for a number of companies, festivals and events, often with voice and performance elements. She represented Cornwall with a selection of her 2D slate, feather and photographic work at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in 2009 and again at the Temps des Sirenes Biennale in Brittany in 2010. “I love to create work using natural materials, and to try and express a sense of the natural laws at play in our coastal spaces. I’m endlessly inspired by ideas of time and tide, having lived on the North coast of Cornwall and Devon, and on several different tidal estuaries, for so much of my life. My 2D work often expresses the subtle and complex conversations between coastal stone and saltwater: their differing sense of time,; the give and take between them - their endless negotiations - at the raw edges where they meet.” More about Laura at her website.
