Donald Sturrock

Donald Sturrock started his professional life as a television producer for the BBC’s Music and Arts Department in the early 1980s.

Since then he has worked as writer and director on countless film, theatre, opera and television projects, as well as writing a prize-winning biography of Roald Dahl. He gets bored easily and is always looking for new things to do. Four years ago he founded a new London orchestra Odyssey Festival Orchestra for 18-30 year-olds with his long-time collaborator, Peter Ash. Using actors, their concerts illuminate the intellectual and artistic context of the music being performed, thus bringing a new generation of people into the concert-hall.
