The feedback from our inaugural festival was very encouraging, and we are keen to share these with you. We had more than 100 responses to our survey and the tone was consistently warm, and in places genuinely moving. One attendee wrote that it was "not often I shed tears of joy"; another that the experience was "a privilege." These are not the words people reach for lightly.
The majority of attendees in 2025 heard about the festival through personal recommendation — friends, family, or acquaintances who had been themselves and passed the word on. We are so proud of the word of mouth recommendations for our very first festival – it suggests Music on the Moor is building the kind of loyalty that money can’t buy. We are very thankful for your support.
The response to last year’s programme was strong across the board, with the combination of art forms drawing particular praise. "Huge congratulations on the festival bringing together so many art forms brilliantly," wrote one attendee. The pairing of music with poetry attracted repeated comment — "Amazing event, enjoyed every second — exquisite combination of music and poetry" — as did the less obvious combination of classical music and woodturning, which prompted one visitor to reflect that "all art is interrelated."
The Brodsky Quartet were widely admired. One audience member described their Schubert and Beethoven programme as "magnificent," with the church setting adding considerably to the atmosphere: "Most wonderful and beautiful church. The quartet and their musical presentation are magnificent." The venues themselves came up repeatedly as part of what made individual concerts work. Beyond the concerts, the walk to King Arthur's Hall earned a specific mention: "Fantastic, thank you so much. I also went on the walk to King Arthur's Hall which was so informative." It's a reminder that the festival's identity extends beyond the music itself.
The picture that emerged from our audience feedback is of a festival that is genuinely valued by the people who attend it - not just enjoyed in the moment but thought about and returned to. Audiences spoke of wanting more events, of recommending it to others, of hoping to see particular performers and programmes again. "Please keep going," wrote one attendee. "It was terrific. It was a joy. It was beautiful. Thank you," wrote another.
